IdISBa organizes the 2nd Conference on Research and Patient Associations

 

 

The Balearic Islands Health Research Institute (IdISBa) will hold the 2nd Conference on Research and Patient Associations on June 19, 2026, at the CaixaForum Auditorium in Palma. The conference is organized in collaboration with the Government of the Balearic Islands, the AstraZeneca Foundation, and the “la Caixa” Foundation.

 

This conference is conceived as a meeting space for research professionals and patient associations, with the aim of fostering citizen participation in health research, as well as promoting dialogue and collaboration among the different stakeholders involved.

 

The event will begin with an institutional welcome delivered by representatives of the Government of the Balearic Islands and IdISBa, followed by a session on IdISBa’s strategy for citizen participation, which will highlight the active role of society in biomedical research.

 

The program includes several short talks focused on citizen participation as an active agent in research, featuring researchers from different fields, as well as the screening of audiovisual content related to oncology patients.

 

The conference will continue with a lecture on collaborative science in rare diseases and a presentation highlighting the reality of rare diseases, emphasizing the importance of increasing their visibility and optimizing organizational efforts.

 

In the final part, a roundtable discussion will address diagnosis and treatments on the horizon, with the participation of representatives from patient organizations, experts in citizen participation, and professionals from the pharmaceutical and research sectors.

 

The conference will conclude with the participation of the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Balearic Islands.

 

This initiative is supported by organizations and institutions committed to research and innovation in health, reaffirming IdISBa’s commitment to open, participatory research oriented toward the needs of society.
